The Weeping Fig Braided Standard (Ficus benjamina), commonly known as the Benjamin Fig or Ficus Tree, is a popular and elegant indoor plant that is widely appreciated for its graceful, weeping habit and glossy, dark green leaves. When trained into a braided standard form, the trunk of the tree is braided together to create a unique, decorative look that makes it a stunning focal point in any room.

Care Guide for Weeping Fig Braided Standard:

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, but too much may cause its leaves to scorch. It's important to avoid placing it in low light conditions for prolonged periods, as this can lead to leaf drop and slow growth.

Watering: Water the Weeping Fig when the top inch of soil feels dry. Make sure the soil is well-draining, as it is susceptible to root rot in soggy conditions. Always ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating at the base.

Humidity: This plant thrives in moderate to high humidity. If your home is dry, particularly during winter, consider placing the plant in a more humid environment or use a humidifier to maintain optimal moisture levels.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range is between 65-75°F (18-24°C). It can tolerate a range of temperatures but should be kept away from drafts and cold air, as it is sensitive to temperature fluctuations and can drop leaves if exposed to sudden changes.

Soil: Prefers well-draining, loamy soil. A general-purpose houseplant potting mix will work well, but ensure that the soil drains properly to avoid root rot.

Fertilization: During the growing season (spring and summer), feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month. Reduce feeding in the fall and winter when growth slows down.

Growth Habit: The Weeping Fig grows into a small tree or large shrub, with long, drooping branches and glossy, oval leaves. When braided, the trunk is twisted together, forming a visually striking standard that adds sophistication to any space.

Pruning: Regularly prune any damaged, yellowing, or dead leaves to keep the plant looking tidy. Light pruning will also help maintain the plant's shape and encourage bushier growth.

Toxicity: Like other Ficus species, the Weeping Fig is toxic to pets (cats and dogs) and humans if ingested. The sap can cause mild skin irritation or digestive issues, so it’s important to keep it out of reach of pets and young children.

Selling Tips for Your Store:

Visual Appeal: The braided trunk makes the Weeping Fig Braided Standard an elegant, eye-catching focal point in any room. Emphasize its decorative appearance, making it ideal for stylish living rooms, offices, and entryways.

Low-Maintenance Option: Market it as a relatively low-maintenance plant that is perfect for indoor environments. It requires only moderate light, occasional watering, and basic upkeep to keep its beautiful appearance.

Space-Saving Tree: Although it grows to be a tall tree, the Weeping Fig is compact in its braided standard form, making it an excellent option for people with limited space who still want the look of a small tree.

Pot Pairing: Showcase it in modern, sleek pots that highlight its elegant appearance. A decorative pot with a simple design will complement the plant's style and can help attract design-conscious buyers.

Pet Safety Reminder: Include a clear warning on your labels about its toxicity to pets, encouraging customers to keep it away from areas where animals might be able to access it.
