Tapestry Vine, scientifically known as Cissus discolor, is a tropical climbing plant native to Southeast Asia, particularly Java and Cambodia. Despite its common name, it is not related to true begonias but is a member of the grape family (Vitaceae).

Key Characteristics:

  • Foliage: The plant features elongated, heart-shaped leaves approximately 3 to 6 inches long and 2 to 4 inches wide. The upper surface is deep green with silvery-white mottling and burgundy blotches along the veins, while the underside is deep reddish-purple.

  • Growth Habit: Tapestry Vine is a fast-growing, evergreen climber that can reach lengths of 6 to 8 feet or more. It is ideal for hanging baskets, trellises, or as a cascading plant in containers.

Cultivation and Care:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. However, the vibrant colors of the leaves become more vivid in brighter light.

  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure the pot has proper drainage.

  • Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity. Regular misting or placing the plant on a humidity tray can help maintain adequate moisture.

  • Temperature: Ideal temperatures range between 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C). Protect the plant from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

  • Soil: Requires well-draining, nutrient-rich potting mixes. A mix containing peat moss and perlite is suitable.

We always choose overnight or express shipping options. Once shipped, most orders arrive in 1-2 days in Canada and the USA. Depending on your location, shipping might take longer. Occassionally, customs clearance might take an additional day.
