Schefflera Hawaiian, often referred to as the Hawaiian Umbrella Tree (Schefflera arboricola), is a popular and hardy houseplant known for its lush, tropical foliage. Native to Taiwan and other parts of Southeast Asia, this variety is commonly used as a decorative indoor plant and is sometimes grown as a bonsai.

Key Features:

1. Foliage: Glossy, green, umbrella-shaped leaf clusters with 7-9 small leaflets. Some varieties may have variegated leaves with creamy yellow or white patterns.

2. Growth Habit: Compact and bushy, with multiple stems that give it a full, tropical appearance.

3. Size: Typically grows to 1.2-1.8 meters (4-6 feet) indoors, though it can be pruned to maintain a smaller size. Outdoors, in tropical climates, it can grow much taller.

Care Tips:

1. Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but may grow slower and develop smaller leaves. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.

2. Watering: Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while underwatering may cause leaf drop. Ensure the pot has good drainage.

3. Humidity: Adapts well to average household humidity but benefits from occasional misting or placement near a humidifier in very dry conditions.

4. Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures between 18-26°C (65-80°F). Protect it from drafts and temperatures below 10°C (50°F).

5. Soil: Requires well-draining soil. A standard potting mix with added perlite or sand works well.

6. Fertilizer: Feed with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Fertilizing is unnecessary in winter.

7. Pruning: Prune as needed to remove dead or yellowing leaves and control size. Regular trimming encourages a fuller, bushier plant.

Additional Notes:

Propagation: Propagates easily through stem cuttings. Place cuttings in water or moist soil to root.

Pests: May occasionally attract spider mites, aphids, or mealybugs. Regularly inspect leaves and wipe them clean to prevent infestations.

Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested, causing mild irritation or digestive upset. Keep out of reach of children and animals.

Versatility: Often used as an ornamental tree, potted plant, or bonsai due to its adaptability and attractive form.
