The Philodendron 'Summer Glory' is a hybrid philodendron known for its stunning foliage and relatively compact growth habit. It's a cross between Philodendron Gloriosum and Philodendron McDowell, combining the best traits of both parents. This plant is a favorite among collectors for its large, velvety leaves and distinct venation.

Features:

1. Foliage: Large, heart-shaped leaves with a velvety texture. The new leaves often emerge in shades of bronze or reddish-pink before maturing to deep green with prominent white veins.

2. Growth Habit: A crawler rather than a climber, meaning it grows horizontally along the soil surface.

3. Size: Leaves can grow impressively large under optimal conditions, making it a centerpiece plant.

Care Tips:

1. Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can scorch its delicate leaves, while too little light may result in leggy growth.

2. Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.

3. Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (60-80%). Use a humidifier or place it near other plants to create a microclimate.

4. Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing bark, perlite, and peat or coconut coir.

5. Temperature: Ideal range is 18-27°C (65-80°F). Avoid cold drafts or temperatures below 15°C (60°F).

6. Fertilizing: Feed with a balanced, diluted fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).

7. Repotting: Repot every 1-2 years or when the plant outgrows its pot, ensuring the rhizome has space to spread.

Propagation:

Propagate through rhizome division, ensuring each division has at least one node and healthy roots.

This plant's dramatic foliage and unique hybrid lineage make it a standout in any plant collection or inventory. Let me know if you'd like further advice on its care or sourcing!
