Paphiopedilum Yi-Ying Bouncing Flames is a captivating hybrid slipper orchid, cherished for its vibrant colors and unique flower form. This hybrid is a product of careful breeding within the Paphiopedilum genus (commonly known as “paphs” or “slipper orchids”), combining striking parentage to achieve bold coloration and robust growth.

Appearance

  • Flowers: The blooms typically display a dazzling combination of red, orange, and yellow hues, often with dramatic veining or flame-like markings, which inspired its name “Bouncing Flames.” The pouch (slipper) is usually brightly colored, standing out against the contrasting petals and dorsal sepal.
  • Size: Medium-sized inflorescence, with each flower lasting several weeks.
  • Foliage: Attractive mottled or green leaves, depending on the specific parentage.

Cultivation Tips

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light—avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
  • Water: Keep the potting medium evenly moist but never soggy. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings.
  • Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity (50–70%).
  • Temperature: Enjoys intermediate temperatures (16–24°C / 60–75°F).
  • Potting Mix: Use a well-draining orchid mix, such as fine bark with perlite and a bit of sphagnum moss.

Summary
