Hoya wayetii variegated is a stunning and unique variety of the Hoya wayetii, cherished for its trailing vines, slender, variegated foliage, and occasional clusters of star-shaped flowers. This tropical plant is a favorite for indoor hanging baskets or shelves due to its compact, ornamental growth and easy-care nature.

Key Features:

1. Foliage: Narrow, elongated leaves with green centers and creamy white or yellow variegation along the edges. In bright light, the leaves may develop a pink or red blush, adding to their beauty.

2. Growth Habit: A trailing or climbing plant with long, cascading vines, perfect for hanging baskets or growing on trellises.

3. Flowers: Produces small, waxy, star-shaped flowers in clusters. The blooms are typically pink to burgundy with a sweet fragrance and appear under optimal conditions.

Care Tips:

1. Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Variegation and red blushing on the leaves are more pronounced with sufficient light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

2. Watering: Allow the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. The thick leaves store moisture, so it is somewhat drought-tolerant but sensitive to overwatering.

3. Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (50-70%). It adapts well to average indoor humidity but benefits from occasional misting in drier environments.

4. Temperature: Grows best in warm temperatures between 18-26°C (65-80°F). Protect it from temperatures below 10°C (50°F) and cold drafts.

5. Soil: Requires well-draining soil. A mix of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite is ideal to mimic its natural epiphytic environment.

6. Fertilizer: Feed with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Use a bloom booster to encourage flowering.

7. Pruning: Trim long or leggy vines to encourage bushier growth. Avoid cutting peduncles (flower stems), as the plant re-blooms from the same spots.

Additional Notes:

Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings. Let cuttings callous for a day before placing them in water or moist soil to root.

Blooms: Flowers may take time to appear, but consistent light, humidity, and care encourage blooming.

Pests: Generally pest-resistant but may attract mealybugs, aphids, or spider mites. Regular cleaning of the leaves helps prevent infestations.

Non-Toxic: Safe for pets and humans, making it a good choice for households with animals.

Hoya wayetii variegated is a versatile and low-maintenance plant that brings a touch of tropical elegance to any indoor space. Its variegated foliage and cascading vines make it a standout addition to any plant collection.
