Hoya polyneura, also known as the "Fish Tail Hoya," is a delicate, vining plant with unique veining patterns. The inner variegated form has creamy-white or yellow variegation along the center of the leaves, contrasting with the green edges. It’s a rare and highly sought-after cultivar among Hoya collectors.

This rare and delicate Hoya polyneura variety thrives with proper care. Here’s what you need to know:

1. Light

  • Prefers bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can scorch the variegated leaves, while too little light may cause fading.
  • Grow lights can help maintain vibrant variegation, especially in winter.

2. Watering

  • Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy. It’s more sensitive to overwatering than other Hoyas.
  • Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Use distilled or rainwater if your tap water is high in minerals.

3. Humidity & Temperature

  • Prefers 60–80% humidity. A humidifier or pebble tray can help in dry environments.
  • Temperature range: 18–27°C (65–80°F). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature drops.

4. Soil & Potting

  • Use a well-draining, chunky mix (e.g., orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir).
  • Aroid soil mix or a DIY blend of cactus soil + perlite + bark works well.
  • Terracotta or breathable pots help prevent root rot.

5. Fertilizing

  • Feed with a balanced, diluted fertilizer (e.g., 10-10-10 or 20-20-20) every 2-4 weeks in the growing season
  • Reduce feeding in fall and winter.

6. Propagation

  • Propagate using stem cuttings with at least one node and a few leaves.
  • Root in water, sphagnum moss, or a well-draining mix with high humidity.

7. Common Issues

  • Yellowing leaves? Likely overwatering. Let the soil dry slightly before watering again.
  • Crispy edges? Could be low humidity or underwatering.
  • Leggy growth? It may need more light.

How long will it take to recieve my order?

We always choose overnight or express shipping options. Once shipped, most orders arrive in 1-2 days in Canada and the USA. Depending on your location, shipping might take longer. Occassionally, customs clearance might take an additional day.

    Where do products ship from?

We ship orders from our store or specialized grow facility in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Do I recieve a tracking number?

A tracking number will be emailed to you once your order has shipped. You can also find your order and tracking information under your account.

What's the process to return an item if I decide I don'twant it?

We will gladly accept returns for a refund, provided the items and plants have not been damaged, propogated, or repotted. Returned plants are subject to a 10% restocking fee, due to the recovery care needed for returned plants, and shipping/permit costs are nonrefundable. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs as well as all paperwork required to ship back to Canada (e.g. phytosanitary certificates).
