Ficus Amstel King, also known as the Narrow-Leaf Fig or Banana Leaf Fig, is a popular ornamental tree recognized for its elegant, slender foliage and hardy nature. It is a cultivar of Ficus binnendijkii and is a versatile plant for indoor or outdoor spaces, adding a lush, tropical feel to any setting.

Key Features:

1. Foliage: Long, narrow, glossy green leaves resemble banana leaves, creating a sleek and tropical appearance.

2. Growth Habit: Upright with a bushy crown when pruned and shaped as a standard (tree form). The trunk is often braided or trained for decorative purposes.

3. Size: Indoors, it typically grows to 1.8-2.4 meters (6-8 feet) tall, though it can be kept smaller with pruning. Outdoors, it can grow much taller in its natural habitat.

Care Tips:

1. Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sun but should be protected from harsh afternoon rays. It also adapts to lower light conditions but may grow slower.

2. Watering: Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot.

3. Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. It adapts well to average household humidity but benefits from occasional misting in dry environments.

4. Temperature: Enjoys warm temperatures between 18-26°C (65-80°F). Keep it away from cold drafts or temperatures below 10°C (50°F).

5. Soil: Requires well-draining soil, such as a mix of potting soil, perlite, and sand.

6. Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in the fall and winter.

7. Pruning: Regular pruning helps maintain its shape, especially when grown as a standard. Remove any yellow or dead leaves to encourage healthy growth.

Additional Notes:

Pests: May attract common houseplant pests such as spider mites, scale, or mealybugs. Regularly inspect the plant and wipe the leaves to keep it healthy.

Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested, causing mild irritation or digestive upset.

Propagation: Propagated through stem cuttings. Root the cuttings in water or moist soil.

Ficus Amstel King Standard is an elegant, low-maintenance plant that brings sophistication and greenery to homes or offices. Its upright form and lush foliage make it a stunning centerpiece or accent plant.
