The Dracaena Dragon Tree (Dracaena marginata) is a hardy and visually striking houseplant native to Madagascar. It is a popular choice for indoor spaces due to its tolerance for various light conditions, low maintenance requirements, and dramatic, architectural appearance.

Key Features:

1. Foliage: Long, slender, sword-like leaves with green centers and red or purplish edges. The leaves grow in a rosette pattern at the top of thin, woody stems.

2. Size: Indoors, it typically grows to 1.8-3 meters (6-10 feet) tall, depending on care. Growth is slow, making it easy to manage.

3. Growth Habit: Upright, with multiple stems branching out over time, creating a sculptural effect.

Care Tips:

1. Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

2. Watering: Allow the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out before watering. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while underwatering may cause leaf tips to brown.

3. Humidity: Thrives in average household humidity. It adapts well but benefits from occasional misting in particularly dry environments.

4. Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures between 18-26°C (65-80°F). Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C (50°F).

5. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend of regular potting soil with sand or perlite.

6. Fertilizer: Feed with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). No fertilizer is needed during winter.

7. Pruning: Trim back stems to control height and shape the plant. Remove any yellow or brown leaves to encourage healthy growth.

Additional Notes:

Air Purifying: Known for its ability to improve indoor air quality by removing toxins like formaldehyde and benzene.

Toxicity: Toxic to pets if ingested, causing symptoms like vomiting or drooling. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.

Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings. Allow cuttings to dry for a day before planting in moist soil.

The Dracaena Dragon Tree is an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced plant owners. Its adaptability and bold appearance make it a timeless addition to homes or offices.
