Codiaeum variegatum 'Mammy', commonly referred to as Croton Mammy, is a striking tropical plant known for its bold, colorful foliage. This variety of croton is highly sought after for its unique leaf shapes and vibrant colors, making it a popular choice for indoor decoration or tropical gardens.

Key Features:

1. Foliage:

The leaves are narrow, twisted, and often curl in an eye-catching fashion.

Colors range from bright green to shades of yellow, orange, red, and deep burgundy, creating a dynamic display.

The variegated colors intensify in bright light, making it a standout plant.

2. Growth Habit:

It is a slow-growing, upright shrub that can reach a height of 2-4 feet when grown indoors.

Outdoors in tropical climates, it can grow larger, forming a bushy structure.

3. Light Requirements:

Thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight enhances its vibrant colors but should be introduced gradually to avoid leaf burn.

Can tolerate partial shade, though the colors may appear less vivid.

4. Watering:

Requires consistent moisture but should not be waterlogged.

Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

5. Humidity and Temperature:

Prefers high humidity and warm temperatures, ideally between 18-26°C (65-80°F).

Avoid cold drafts or temperatures below 15°C (59°F), as it is sensitive to the cold.

6. Soil:

Requires well-draining soil, such as a mix of potting soil, perlite, and sand.

Ensuring good drainage prevents waterlogging, which can damage the roots.

7. Propagation:

Propagated through stem cuttings, ideally in the spring or summer.

Cuttings root well in water or moist soil under warm, humid conditions.

8. Care Tips:

Fertilize monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer to promote growth and maintain vibrant foliage.

Wipe the leaves regularly to remove dust and keep the plant looking its best.

Prune as needed to maintain shape and remove dead or damaged leaves.

Additional Notes:

Codiaeum 'Mammy' is mildly toxic to pets and humans if ingested, so keep it out of reach of children and animals.

This plant thrives in stable environments, so avoid moving it frequently, as it may drop leaves due to stress.

With its dramatic colors and unique leaf structure, Codiaeum Mammy is an excellent choice for adding a tropical flair to your indoor or outdoor space.
