Description

    • Cleisostoma subulatum is a small to medium-sized epiphytic orchid native to Southeast Asia, including India, Thailand, and Malaysia. It is part of the genus Cleisostoma, which is known for compact growth and long-lasting flowers.

      Key features:

      • Growth habit: Epiphytic; grows on trees or rocks in warm, humid forests

      • Stems: Slender, erect or slightly arching, often branching

      • Leaves: Narrow, linear-lanceolate, arranged along the stems

      • Flowers: Small, tubular, typically pale green, yellow, or white with a central lip that may have red or purple markings

      • Blooming: Produces flowers in dense racemes or clusters, often lasting 1–2 weeks per flower

      • Fragrance: Usually mild or faint

      • Environment: Grows in low to medium light in nature, with excellent air circulation

This species is favored by growers who want compact orchids with multiple flowers that can be mounted or potted.

       Care Guide: Cleisostoma subulatum

       Light

      • Bright, indirect light

      • Tolerates some filtered sun, but avoid direct midday sun

      • Can handle moderate shade, mimicking forest canopy conditions

       Temperature

      • Warm to intermediate growing

      • Day: 25–30°C (77–86°F)

      • Night: 16–20°C (60–68°F)

      • Can tolerate slight variations but avoid frost or cold drafts

      Humidity

      • Moderate to high humidity preferred (50–80%)

      • Works well in humid homes, greenhouses, or terrariums

       Air Movement

      • Needs good air circulation to prevent rot and disease

      • Essential if humidity is high

      Watering

      • Water regularly, allowing medium to dry slightly between watering

      • Reduce slightly in cooler, less active periods

      • Always avoid standing water around the roots

       Mounting & Potting

      • Mounting: Cork, tree fern, or bark works very well

      • Potting: Small pots with fine bark, sphagnum moss, or orchid mix

      • Mounted plants benefit from daily misting; potted plants require regular watering

       Fertilizer

      • Feed lightly during active growth

      • Use balanced orchid fertilizer at ¼–½ strength

      • Fertilize every 1–2 weeks in growth season, flush occasionally to prevent salt buildup

       Blooming Tips

      • Stable warmth and humidity encourage flowering

      • Avoid frequent relocation once buds appear

      • Healthy, actively growing plants bloom more reliably

    FAQs

Yes – we ship every week of the year! However, in the case of extreme weather conditions or emergency situations (e.g. flooding/fires that would interupt couriers), we may delay shipping until it is safe to ship.

How long will it take to recieve my order?

We always choose overnight or express shipping options. Once shipped, most orders arrive in 1-2 days in Canada and the USA. Depending on your location, shipping might take longer. Occassionally, customs clearance might take an additional day.

    Where do products ship from?

We ship orders from our store or specialized grow facility in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Do I recieve a tracking number?

A tracking number will be emailed to you once your order has shipped. You can also find your order and tracking information under your account.

What's the process to return an item if I decide I don'twant it?

We will gladly accept returns for a refund, provided the items and plants have not been damaged, propogated, or repotted. Returned plants are subject to a 10% restocking fee, due to the recovery care needed for returned plants, and shipping/permit costs are nonrefundable. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs as well as all paperwork required to ship back to Canada (e.g. phytosanitary certificates).
