Callisia fragrans variegated, often referred to as the Variegated Basket Plant or Inch Plant, is a striking variety of the Callisia fragrans species. It is cherished for its elongated, arching leaves adorned with elegant cream, green, and sometimes pinkish-purple stripes. The leaves are thick and succulent-like, giving the plant a lush, textured appearance. Under optimal light conditions, the pink and purple hues become more pronounced, adding to its charm.

Care Guidelines:

1. Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant variegation. Too little light can cause the stripes to fade, while direct sunlight may scorch the leaves.

2. Watering: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. It is drought-tolerant to an extent but prefers consistent, moderate watering. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.

3. Soil: Grows best in a well-draining soil mix, such as one designed for succulents or with added sand and perlite.

4. Humidity: While tolerant of average household humidity, it appreciates slightly higher humidity levels for optimal growth.

5. Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures between 18-26°C (65-80°F). Protect from frost and cold drafts.

6. Fertilizer: Feed with a diluted, balanced fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).

Propagation:

Callisia fragrans variegated is easy to propagate through stem cuttings. Simply cut a healthy stem, let it dry for a day, and place it in soil or water until roots develop.

Placement:

Its cascading growth habit makes it perfect for hanging baskets, shelves, or decorative pots. Its unique variegation and occasional pink hues make it a standout in any indoor plant collection, adding a tropical and whimsical touch to your space.
