Alocasia 'Nairobi Night' is a captivating tropical plant known for its dramatic foliage and exotic appearance. This Alocasia variety features dark, almost black, glossy leaves with pronounced veins, giving it a bold and sophisticated look. The leaves are typically arrow-shaped and slightly textured, making the plant a stunning focal point in any indoor or outdoor garden.

Care Requirements

1. Light

Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while low light may slow growth and reduce vibrancy.

2. Watering

Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings.

Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water to prevent root rot.

3. Humidity

Thrives in high humidity (60%+). Use a humidifier or mist the leaves regularly to maintain ideal conditions.

Grouping plants together can also increase humidity.

4. Temperature

Prefers warm temperatures between 18-27°C (65-80°F).

Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C (59°F).

5. Soil

Use a well-draining soil mix rich in organic matter. A combination of peat moss, perlite, and potting soil works well.

6. Fertilizer

Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).

Reduce or stop fertilizing in the dormant period (fall and winter).

7. Repotting

Repot every 1-2 years or when the plant outgrows its container. Choose a pot with good drainage.

8. Pests

Monitor for pests like spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

9. Propagation

Propagate through division by separating offsets or corms from the mother plant.

With its striking appearance and relatively easy care requirements, Alocasia 'Nairobi Night' is a great choice for plant lovers seeking to add a touch of tropical elegance to their collection.

We always choose overnight or express shipping options. Once shipped, most orders arrive in 1-2 days in Canada and the USA. Depending on your location, shipping might take longer. Occassionally, customs clearance might take an additional day.
