Collection: 4" Fittonia Assorted
Fittonia, commonly known as the nerve plant, is a small tropical plant valued for its vibrant, veined foliage. Native to South America, particularly Peru, it thrives in warm, humid environments and is often grown as a houseplant or in terrariums.
Features:
Foliage: Small, oval leaves with prominent vein patterns in white, pink, or red that contrast beautifully against the green background.
Growth Habit: A low-growing, spreading plant that forms a dense mat, typically reaching 3–6 inches in height.
Care:
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water: Needs consistently moist soil but does not tolerate waterlogging. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity. Regular misting or placement near a humidifier is ideal. It also grows well in terrariums.
Temperature: Prefers temperatures between 60–80°F and should be kept away from cold drafts or temperatures below 55°F.
Soil: Requires a well-draining potting mix with good moisture retention, such as a peat-based mix.
Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted, balanced fertilizer.
Maintenance:
Pruning: Pinch back stems to encourage bushier growth and remove leggy or dead parts.
Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant outgrows its pot.
Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings placed in water or moist soil.
Additional Notes:
Water Sensitivity: Fittonia is prone to wilting when it dries out but often recovers quickly after watering.
Placement: Ideal for bathrooms or kitchens where humidity is naturally higher.
Non-Toxic: Safe for households with pets.
Fittonia’s compact size and striking foliage make it a perfect addition to terrariums, small pots, or mixed plant displays, bringing a splash of color and texture to any indoor space.
